Well, I just gotta say that you probably should spend alittle more now
and get a '95 or newer Honda or (better still :), a '94 TZ. They're more
reliable and better suspended and you won't be wanting to replace them so
soon to be competitive (or cool). And then you'll be stuck trying to sell
 the relic to someone else.

Other expenses to consider: License fees @ $75/yr. for each sanctioning
body.
Entry fees @ $100-$150/weekend Travel expenses: gas and food really add
up and are variable. Lodging: camp at the track and save big bucks + more
ambiance. Race fuel and premix: VP C12 is $4.75/gallon and oil is
$5-$23/liter; I use about 5-7 gallons/weekend. Spare parts: you really
should budget several hundred dollars at least ie. clip-on, rearset and
peg, chain, clutch stuff, gaskets, reeds, levers, pipe springs etc. A
canopy. And my biggest one: hundreds of bucks for glorious enlargements
of on-track action photos to wallpaper garage, bedroom, trailer, and
 website.
Get ready to go broke; that's why credit was invented.
